Don’t Let Your Life Slip Away

By Adam L. Huerta Feb 26 1

enter eternal life

Don’t let your life slip away without living it to the fullest. The ability for us to think, learn and interact with one another is such an amazing thing. Use your time to think about eternal matters. Learn to love like Christ did then show others all that you’ve learned.

Being a child of God is more than what I can and can’t do. It’s about fighting harder to love more. It’s about taking this moment and giving up everything about you and yourself in order to serve God and others.  It’s about living a life of hope and joy because the Lord Jesus saved us.

Jesus, God’s own perfect son, came down to show us that true life is loving God and loving others. He came so that we could have a second chance at perfection as God intended for us to choose to live. He set us free from the bondage of sin through the power of the gospel. By understanding that the death, burial and resurrection truly happened in history and that it was by God’s power that Jesus was raised from the dead, we can start over. The Bible says that after believing the gospel, God wants us to repent of our sins and commit ourselves to living a life of obedience, beginning with the first act of obedience: baptism (which is a complete immersion in a body of water). In doing so, our sins are forgiven (the slate is wiped clean!) and the Holy Spirit is sent to live inside of us. In the eyes of God, we are now as perfect as Jesus.

Here’s why. Through our act of obedience, we are imitating the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. When we repent, we are terminating the old man of sin and burying that old man under the water, just as Jesus died and was buried. Because we trust that God’s word is true, when we are pulled up out of the water we are also resurrected with Christ. None of the guilt and shame of our sinful past can hold us down any longer because it was all buried. We are now born again to love and live life eternally like Christ.
