One day there was a man who was gifted a position of leadership by the people. His task was to lead them for the next four years and make their country great again. However, this man was found a liar and many people gasped in horror. He was criticized for lying. He was verbally attacked by many. “This is our leader??!” they shouted in anger! Many people had more than a strong opinion concerning this leader and wished many bad things upon him.
There was one person in particular who was particularly more angry than all the rest. He was ranting and raving all over the media about how horrible the leader of the nation is. The one interviewing asked, “What do you think should happen to this liar?” As the angry man was about to give the world a piece of his mind his eyes fell on a sign being held up in the distance.
The angry man was about to condemn this liar yet again, this time live on the air, and when he saw this sign he stopped. He realized that he was so desperate to hide his faults that he was willing to tear down another man.
What was on this sign that caused him to react in such a way? What did this sign say? This is how it read:
“… if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. “But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions” (Matthew 6:14–15).
This angry man realized that he too has been guilty of being a liar in his life. He realized that his leader wasn’t the only one who was guilty of this sin. In fact, he realized that it was highly likely that everyone is guilty of this sin.
Have you ever told a lie and later condemned a man for doing the same? We all need the forgiveness of the Father in a very real way. Me. You. All of us.
Do you want to know about how God has forgiven you?
